**Risers: 8 people available for both setup and take down before and after each performance. Coordination/specific instructions to the volunteers are provided by Mr. Ehrlich and the Committee Chair approximately 7-10 days prior to each event. Details such as when the auditorium will be available for set up are made known at that time. While volunteers are appreciated at each event, it would be ideal to have a set group (the Riser Crew or the Earlych Risers??) to perform in this capacity for the entire school year. Usually the same group would tear-down and put away risers. This generally happens immediately after each performance. The exception to this rule would be the Pre- Assessment concert when Woodson (like this year) is hosting the Choral Assessment. In this case the tear down and put away occurs at the end of the Assessment event.
**Chaperones/Door monitors: Usually 8 people to chaperone and another 4 as Door Monitors. For most of the concerts, 2-4 chaperones need to arrive with the kids (usually 5:45 pm or so for a 7 pm show) and they work the longer shift until the end of the show, joining the kids in the auditorium once their pre-show chaperone duties are finished back stage. An additional 4-6 chaperones are needed to sit intermingled in the rows of kids. This second crew generallyarrive around 6:30 with the Door Monitors and continue to keep the performers in line until the concert is finished. The Door Monitors arrive ~30 minutes prior to show time to man their stations and load up on programs - they are asked to open the doors IN BETWEEN songs only for a few seconds to let in stragglers and NOT ruin the concert recordings and distract the kids (the doors are locked from the outside.). Start times may vary slightly at Mr. Ehrlich's discretion but the Committe Chair will be in contact with these volunteers 7-10 days in advance o the event with more specific info.
Booster Raffles/Raffle Chair:
This is s super fun job. The current chair would love to have 1 or 2 people volunteer to be her shadow as this is her last year. Really all this job entails is to show up to each Choir booster meeting and run the raffle. You acquire/organize a group of gifts by asking local businesses to donate, other parents and pulling from extra stuff from other fundraisers (i.e. the cake/cookie one etc…). At each booster meeting come w/ four from the pile, put them in bags and sell raffle tickets to the parents who attend the meetings. The current chair has a lot of gifts already for the current year and would appreciate a new parent to work with transition the duties to this year. This is A GREAT way to meet folks and talk up chorus to the community!
This opportunity takes about 2 hours tops each month (1 to prepare some things or get some gifts, and 1 hour to attend the meetings) and is best shared w/ two people so you can both help sell the raffle tickets and help decide what gifts to bring also help share in getting fun gifts to raffle.
