Annual spring chorus trip payments must be made out to WT Woodson HS. Please include in the memo section of the check your child’s name to ensure proper accounting of payments. All first trip installment payments are required by each family, unless your travel balance can cover the entire trip expense. Remaining payments can be paid by the family and/or use funds each family has raised through the Great Lake Scrip program. To assist families in defraying the costs of the spring trip, they may participate in the Great Lakes Scrip/ShopWithScrip.com fundraising program. All funds earned will be credited to the individual student for their travel and not to the chorus department. Families must submit a Student Trip Fundraising Agreement to the Scrip Coordinator. (Agreements can be sent to class with your student and dropped in the Chorus Booster mailbox in the back of the chorus room.) Your travel account will be logged in the Charms system for your convenience. Your spring trip agreement will include payment forms which will allow families to designate amounts to be paid by their chorus trip account and the amount being paid by the family via check. Any balance remaining in the family trip account may be rolled over to the next academic year, rolled over to another family member, be refunded directly to the family or be donated to WT Woodson Chorus. All families participating in the fundraising program will select one of these three options when submitting their fundraising agreement.
Great Lakes Scrip - is a fundraising program that enables you to purchase gift cards to a variety of vendors and have a portion of the cost "rebated" to your child's trip account. For example, if you buy $50 of Starbucks gift cards, you pay $50 and receive $50 worth of Starbucks gift cards AND a rebate of $3.50 (7%) is credited to your child's account. Each vendor rebates different amounts. Vendors include popular restaurants: Outback, Macaroni Grill, and Pizzeria Uno's; stores such as Gap, Kohl's, and Bed, Bath and Beyond; fast food vendors including Wendy's,Chipotle, Noodles and Subway; gas companies, food stores, hotels, and airlines. You may also purchase Giant, Safeway, Shoppers and Whole Foods grocery scrip through the GLScrip program. Visit www.shopwithscrip.com for a full vendor listing and rebate amounts.
Scrip orders are collected by Helen Burnett, the Scrip Coordinator at the monthly Choral Boosters meetings (more often during the Holiday season), and your check is deposited the next business day. We allow a couple of days for the deposit to clear the bank, and then place the group scrip order. The gift cards will arrive within another few days and will be available for pickup. We credit your student’s trip account immediately after your scrip order is delivered. From placing your order, to receipt of your gift cards and credit to your student’s trip account, takes about 10 days from start to finish.
Tag Day- Volunteer to drive students, prepare and serve food and much more. Groups of students, chaperoned by parent drivers, canvas Woodson neighborhoods spreading the word about Woodson Chorus and asking for donations. This is the chorus' largest fundraiser; 100% of the proceeds go to directly to the chorus.
Dessert Fundraiser- In October, choral students will be able to sell high-quality frozen baked goods and cookie dough. We continue to offer this fundraiser because of the very positive comments we receive about the quality of the products. In other words, they are yummy! Proceeds from this fundraiser go into the Chorus General Fund. Contact the Dessert Fundraiser coordinator for questions/additional information.
